Messi scored in Barca's 3-0 win at Valladolid on Tuesday and Leo is now on record-breaking 644 goals for the Catalans.

Koeman believes the 33-year-old would be happy to stay at Camp Nou despite ongoing exit links.

I've said it a lot," Ronald Koeman said after Barcelona's 3-0 victory at Real Valladolid on Tuesday. "I see Leo happy here.

He's very important for us with his creativity.

"You can see that when there are good players alongside him."

The Argentine's strike at the Jose Zorrilla was his 644th goal for the Catalans. No player in history has scored more goals for a single club with Brazil legend Pele being the previous record holder - 643 goals.

The 33-year-old, however, is yet to extend his current contract with Barca that runs out at the end of the 2020/21 season and thus remains heavily linked with an exit from Camp Nou next summer.
