Real Madrid players held an emergency meeting on Thursday amid the club’s poor form, AS reports.

Club captain, Sergio Ramos, convened the meeting after their 2-0 defeat in the Champions League to Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.

That result has left Los Blancos on the brink of exiting the competition, which they have won 13 times in the past.

Real also sit in fourth place in LaLiga, having suffered three defeats from their opening 10 matches, seven points behind leaders Real Sociedad.

Ramos is said to have called the meeting with the players, although it is understood manager Zinedine Zidane did not attend.

The defender reportedly told teammates: “We are one victory away from getting through in the Champions League, we depend on ourselves and we have to give everything.

“This is Real Madrid, gentlemen. Together, we’ve come out of worse.”

Zidane is said to have been assured that he retains the support of the club’s senior players.
